In 1956, Richard Carson and Reuban Saeks founded Karen Carson Creations (KCC). The name Karen Carson is a combination of Reuban’s daughter with Richard’s last name. They owned the business until 1979, specializing in home fragrance and gift items.
KCCs signature item was a patented, scented drawer liner called Polyfab, used for lining dresser drawers and linen closets. Most drawer liners are made of paper with a pressure sensitive adhesive backing. Polyfab is quilted with a cotton-like back laminated to a clear plastic top. Polyfab is on a continuous roll, which allows for a custom fit into any drawer. In addition, Polyfab lays flat and has no adhesive, which allows drawers to be relined as fashions change. Polyfab accounted for more than 50% of the companys sales until the mid 1980s.
In 1985, William Smith and Terry Mollaun purchased the company and added specialty bath as an extension to the home fragrance and gift category. During the 1990s the company tripled in size as body lotion, shower gel and other personal care products were in high demand.
Today, KCCs mission is to combine cutting edge design with current fragrance trends and to create bath and home fragrance items that excel both functionally and also as decorative accessories.
